I recently had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful wedding at Hotel 1620, and from the moment we arrived, I was reminded why this is such a wonderful location for a wedding day.
Between the waterfront ceremony setting, the elegant ballroom, and an incredibly helpful staff, Hotel 1620 gives couples the opportunity to create a wedding that feels both sophisticated and relaxed — exactly the kind of atmosphere that makes for an amazing celebration and beautiful photographs.

Before the ceremony, the waterfront setting at Hotel 1620 also creates a beautiful spot for a first look.
With Plymouth Harbor in the background, it gives couples a quiet moment together before the day really begins — and from a photography standpoint, the water, open sky, and natural light make it an absolutely gorgeous location for those first emotional portraits
A Waterfront Wedding Ceremony in Plymouth, Massachusetts
One of my favorite features of Hotel 1620 is its outdoor waterfront ceremony space overlooking Plymouth Harbor.
The ceremony area is located just across from the hotel, giving couples the opportunity to exchange their vows with the harbor and open sky behind them before heading back to the hotel for cocktail hour and their reception.
For photography, that setting is gorgeous.
The water creates a beautiful, clean backdrop for the ceremony, while the waterfront gives us plenty of opportunities for romantic photographs of the newlyweds afterward.
And because you are in downtown Plymouth, the wedding doesn't feel isolated from everything else. You get that beautiful coastal New England atmosphere while still having all of the convenience of a full-service hotel.
The Regency Ballroom at Hotel 1620
Then there is the ballroom.
The Regency Ballroom is a beautiful reception space featuring dramatic chandeliers and sweeping ceiling drapery that immediately adds elegance and romance to the room.
Once the tables are dressed, the flowers are in place and the candles and reception lighting come on, the entire ballroom transforms.
It photographs beautifully.
Hotel 1620 says the Regency Ballroom can accommodate celebrations of up to 250 guests, making it a great choice for couples planning a larger wedding while still wanting the warmth and character of a Plymouth waterfront venue.
For more intimate celebrations, the hotel also offers the Atlantic Room, which features floor-to-ceiling windows and accommodates up to 80 guests for dinner and dancing.
Everything in One Place
One of the biggest advantages of having a wedding at Hotel 1620 is how easily the entire day can come together.
Couples can host not only their wedding reception here, but also their waterfront ceremony, rehearsal dinner, cocktail reception and even a post-wedding brunch. The hotel also offers wedding room blocks so family and friends can stay right where the celebration is happening.

As a wedding photographer, I pay a lot of attention to how a venue team works behind the scenes.

The team at Hotel 1620 was an absolute pleasure to work with. Everyone was welcoming, accommodating and helpful throughout the day, and that calm professionalism allows the couple and their families to simply enjoy themselves.
The hotel also provides wedding management, catering and assistance with décor and entertainment as part of its wedding services.
And I was especially happy to spend some time talking with Krissie, one of the venue's function coordinators. Her enthusiasm for her couples and for the weddings they host here really shows.
Wedding Photography at Hotel 1620
From a photographer's perspective, Hotel 1620 gives us a wonderful variety of environments to work with throughout the day.
You have the waterfront for romantic portraits, the ceremony overlooking Plymouth Harbor, the elegance of the ballroom, downtown Plymouth nearby and all of those candid moments happening in between.
And those in-between moments are some of my favorites.
The laughter while everyone is getting ready. The look on the groom's face when he sees his bride. Parents trying not to cry. Friends laughing during cocktail hour. A packed dance floor later that evening.
Those are the photographs that bring you back to what your wedding actually felt like.
