A Beautiful Smith Barn Wedding in Peabody, MA
Weddings at Smith Barn in Peabody, Massachusetts -
Is a beautiful choice for couples who love romantic New England charm, natural scenery, and a relaxed wedding-day atmosphere -
Between the iconic red barn, apple orchards, historic stone walls, and Woodland Gardens just across the street, this North Shore wedding venue offers so many gorgeous possibilities for your wedding, plus gorgeous wedding photography for your big day!
I completely understood why couples fall in love with this venue!
A Wonderful Venue for Your First Look!
If you're considering a first look, Smith Barn is particularly well-suited for one
Because there are so many portrait locations close to one another, we can photograph your first look, wedding party, and many of your family photographs before the ceremony, without having everyone disappear
That means once your ceremony ends, you can actually enjoy your cocktail hour and spend more of your wedding day with the people you love!
And if you've read anything else on my website, you already know I'm a BIG fan of couples actually getting to enjoy their wedding!
We can still sneak away later if the sunlight becomes gorgeous — especially around golden hour — just for ten or fifteen minutes to capture that perfect sunset for you
The Woodland Gardens Ceremony
One of the prettiest features of a Smith Barn wedding is the Woodland Gardens, located just across Felton Street behind the historic Nathaniel Felton Junior House.
It feels tucked away and intimate, surrounded by greenery and seasonal flowers, and gives couples a beautiful outdoor ceremony setting that feels completely separate from the reception space.
Spring and summer weddings have all that soft green color and flowering landscape, while fall weddings bring those beautiful New England tones we all wait for every year.
And from a photography standpoint, I love that you can move so easily between the ceremony, portraits and reception without spending a huge portion of the wedding day traveling from one location to another.
So Many Beautiful Places for Wedding Photographs!!
This is where Smith Barn really surprised me.
There are so many different looks within a very small area.
Of course we have to photograph the classic red barn — it would almost be illegal not to! — but there are also apple orchards, stone walls, wooded pathways, open areas around the property and the beautiful gardens across the street.
That variety lets us create a wedding gallery that doesn't feel like every photograph was taken in exactly the same place
And then there is sunset.
At the wedding I recently photographed at Smith Barn, Tammy from the venue suggested that we head across the street for sunset photographs.
She knew exactly what she was talking about! Amazing!!
Smith Barn Wedding Sunset Photos
“Honestly, the sunsets at Smith Barn should be newsworthy"
One of my favorite things about photographing a wedding at Smith Barn is stepping away for a few quiet minutes at sunset. The fields and open landscape around Brooksby Farm can create the most beautiful golden light, and these sunset portraits were absolutely worth sneaking away for... It’s such a romantic and fun way to slow everything down for a moment and give my couples a few gorgeous photographs together before heading back to celebrate
A Smith Barn Reception
Once everyone heads inside, Smith Barn has that warm, cozy atmosphere couples are usually hoping for when they start searching for a New England barn wedding venue.
The restored barn has beautiful wood throughout, exposed beams and warm string lighting that becomes especially pretty once the sun goes down.
There is enough room for dinner, dancing and a full celebration while still keeping that intimate barn feeling.
Smith Barn can accommodate weddings of up to approximately 240 guests and has both air-conditioning and heat — something that definitely matters when you're planning a Massachusetts wedding anywhere from April through November.
